Red Riding Hood: Based on a direct translation from German of the fairytale Little Red Cap by the Brothers Grim, Red Riding Hood is a linocut print on heavy yardstick paper. This particular project was a chance to explore my fascination with traditional fairy tales and their grim entirely non childish themes and imagery. I used the jagged lines and edges that are often a result of linocut as well as minimal colour to evoke an unsettling feeling. I chose red riding hood as the subject since the story is often told in an unsettling or creepy way and most fairy tales are not. I thought it the best choice to bridge the gap.
